The purpose of this blog is to provide an outlet for my ideas, both personal and professional, in an unstructured and seamless fashion. I will often write about my thoughts about various problems in harmonic analysis, combinatorics, analytic number theory and other areas. Thoughts and ideas about academic politics will also be occasionally explored, as will stories of interaction with other areas of mathematics. Photographs and poetry will be sprinkled throughout as mathematical and personal tribulations are the greatest sources of my creativity.
Your remarks are always welcome and most appreciated!
Thank you for your translation of ТОПИЛАСЬ ПЕЧЬ by J. Brodsky. Your first attempt is just wonderful. Could you please tell me your name, since I posted your translation in youtube under the musical clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXSX1sEsB00, but could not cite who is the translator.
Thank you very much!
Hi (please send this on to Sam Kestenbaum)
I read Sam Kestenbaum’s piece on Yom KIppur in Deer Isle, Maine. Please forward this note on to him.
My husband Larry and I spent a glorious week in Deer Isle, Maine more that 40 years ago in a resort run my Dr Waldron. It was in June, the water too cool for swimming. Then in his 80′s, sailboating, hiking with gusto. I recall we reached the resort by boat.
What happened to the property ultimately? We live in Israel now and spend summers here. But the thought of Deer Isle then makes my sigh.
All the best,
Ida
